Experience the sound

Sound isn’t just something we hear—it’s something the body feels.

Gongs produce a rich spectrum of frequencies and overtones that interact with the nervous system, brainwaves, and even the body’s cells. This is often referred to as vibroacoustic stimulation—where sound vibrations are absorbed through the body, not just the ears.

As you relax into the sound, your brain may shift from an active Beta waves state into slower Alpha waves and Theta waves.
  • Alpha is linked to calm, presence, and reduced stress
  • Theta is associated with deep relaxation, creativity, and subconscious processing.
This is why people often feel like they’ve had a deep rest—even if they didn’t fully fall asleep.

Gong sessions can support activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the “rest and digest” state.
When this system is engaged:
  • Heart rate slows
  • Breathing deepens
  • Stress hormones reduce
  • The body can shift into repair and restoration
For many people, this is one of the few times they truly drop out of “doing mode.”

Everything in the body has a natural vibrational frequency—including organs, tissues, and cells. This idea sits within the field of biofield science and resonance.
When exposed to complex sound waves like those from a gong, the body may respond through a process called resonance—where systems begin to subtly synchronise with external frequencies.
While research is still evolving, early studies in sound therapy suggest potential benefits for:
  • Stress reduction
  • Improved mood
  • Better sleep quality
  • Enhanced sense of wellbeing

Why does it feel different than listening to calming music?
Unlike music with a predictable rhythm, gong sound is immersive and non-linear. This can interrupt habitual thinking patterns and give the mind a break from constant processing.
Some people experience:
  • A sense of floating or timelessness
  • Emotional release
  • Visual imagery
  • Deep stillness
Others simply feel relaxed—and that’s perfect too.

Our Gong Relaxation Sessions
During our Gong Relaxation Sessions, you’ll be invited to lie down on a thick, comfortable mat, with a cushion, blanket, and eye pillow provided. Settle in, get cosy, and allow yourself to rest—that’s all that’s needed.

I’ll begin with a short introduction to the gongs and how they work, followed by a gentle guided relaxation to help you ease into the experience.

At the end of the session, you’ll be guided back to a fully awake state slowly and gently. From there, you’re welcome to take your time—have a cuppa, sit quietly, or simply be. There’s no expectation to share your experience, and no group sharing. If you feel like a quiet chat, I’m always happy to hear how you’re feeling—especially if it’s your first session.

Join me for an Evening Gong Session featuring a gently extended guided meditation, along with a crystal and/or affirmation card to take home, followed by a light supper.
After the session, you’re warmly invited to stay for a cup of tea, something to eat, and relaxed conversation. If you’d prefer a quieter close, you’re welcome to enjoy a cuppa in your own space—or head off when you feel ready.
